2009/10 Chevening Scholarships

Strengthening Leadership in the Cultural Sector

Chevening Scholarships on the Clore Leadership Programme

The Clore Leadership Programme is designed to help develop the knowledge, skills, networks and experience of potential leaders across a wide range of cultural activity.

We are pleased to announce that we are currently inviting nominations for up to three Chevening Scholarships, supported by the Foreign and Commonwealth Office, through the British Council, to outstanding potential cultural leaders from China, India and the Islamic World.

We have now extended the deadline for nominations to the 11 May 2009.

Each Scholar will benefit from an individually tailored programme, based in the UK over a period of two substantial visits during the course of one year. Starting in September 2009, this will include:

-          Attendance at two intensive, two week long residential leadership courses and the Clore leadership conference alongside Fellows of the Clore Leadership Programme

-          A two month period of secondment

-          Time for reflection, research and debate.

The Scholars should be of a similar high calibre to the other Clore Fellows and have something of a track record in their home country, with an expectation that they will fill senior leadership roles in the future.

They must also be available to attend two residential leadership courses in the U.K. from Monday 14 to Friday 25 September 2009 and from Monday 28 June to Friday 9 July 2010; and to take part in a secondment in the U.K. for a period of approximately two months.

Each nomination should include:

  • A curriculum vitae (maximum two A4 pages)

  • Completed Application Form.

Each candidate should also:

  • Have a good command of the English language both written and spoken

  • Have the ability to live and work independently in the UK .

The Application Form, Nomination and supporting documents should be sent by 11 May 2009 to:
